Lalu, Shah booked; EC asks party leaders to behave

While FIR was filed against RJD chief Lalu Prasad for his Narbhakshi (cannibal) comment against Amit Shah, the BJP chief was booked in Begusarai for <g data-gr-id="23">chara</g> chor (fodder thief) barb against the RJD chief. Additional Chief Election Officer R Lakshamanan said that the FIR, number 389/15, was registered against Amit Shah for violation of Representation of Peoples Act and relevant sections of IPC.

Amit Shah had, while addressing a rally in Begusarai, referred to Lalu Prasad’s conviction in a fodder scam case, alleging that “Bihar, which had a glorious past, has today attained a bad name due to <g data-gr-id="21">chara</g>-<g data-gr-id="22">chor</g> Lalu Yadav”.

A stung Lalu hit back at Shah a day later, asking how a “<g data-gr-id="20">narbhakshi</g>” (man-eater) of Gujarat riots was now roaming around in Bihar”. “FIR has been registered under section 188. Whatever action required, will be taken,” said Vikas Vaibhav, SSP, Patna when asked about on Lalu Yadav.

Meanwhile, with political dialogue between rival parties getting shriller by day over the murder of a person from minority community in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has asked all political parties to refrain from using provocative language in speeches during campaigning.

In an advisory issued Tuesday, the EC categorically instructed political leaders and candidates that votes should not be sought on caste or religious lines. It said no personal attack should be made and the dignity of women should not be compromised with during campaigning. The advisory comes in the wake of political parties and leaders reportedly using improper language.
