Angry over the death of a colleague, a number of labourers on Wednesday protested against DLF and vandalised the company’s site office in sector 62 here, police said.
Badan Chaudhary, 40, was on Wednesday found dead in his room at DLF’s labour campus in sector 62, near Badshahpur.
Labourers alleged that Chaudhary, who hailed from Jharkhand, died due to the low quality food provided by the contractor of the company.
Hundreds of labourers worked in the DLF project and lived in the labour campus of the company.
A protester alleged that food of inferior quality was being provided to the labourers. “Many of us fell ill after eating the food and at least five people died in the last few months at their native places after leaving the campus due to illness,” he said. “Labourers broke the windows and doors of the office and vandalised the equipment and furniture,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, viscera samples of the deceased were sent to the forensic laboratory to ascertain the exact cause of death.
