Labourer dies as trench caves in

A labourer on Wednesday died as a trench caved in while he was working on the repair of a sewer in West Delhi’s Harinagar area, officials said. A Delhi Jal Board (DJB) official said it is suspected that seepage inside the faulty sewer led to earth collapsing on to the labourer, causing his death. According to police, the mishap occurred at around 1.30 pm when the labourer, identified as Subodh, 25, was inside the trench for carrying out repairs on a damaged sewer in Som Bazar street in the Shiv Nagar locality of Hari Nagar.
