A 28-year-old labourer died after a tripod pillar fell on him, while he was working at a CISF transit camp, at DMRC site near Shastri Park Metro station, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Humagir, was working at DMRC site for construction of transit camp for CISF located near the Shastri Park Metro station. When the tripod pillar fell on him, he was rushed to the local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police had later registered a case under Sections 387 (Putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion), 304A (Causing death by negligence) of the IPC. A DMRC spokesperson said that the “hydra” that unloaded on the labourer was brought to the site without DMRC’s permission. The hydra belongs to sub-contractor, who reports to the contractor in-charge, Adhar Stambh. The DMRC will now inquire into the matter.
