L-G Jung urges people to donate organs

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday urged the people to donate their organs to those who are in dire need of it.

‘We must keep in mind that society is a larger family. One should feel proud to donate the organs. It has to be done in a festive spirit as one celebrates Diwali, Holi, Eid and Christmas. This will be a great favour to humanity,’ he said in his address on the Jashn-e-Azadi celebration in the city.

At a function organised by health department, Jung also administered a pledge along with staff members and doctors to donate their organs. A blood donation, health and eye check-up camp was also organised on the occasion. 

At a special function organized at Raj Niwas, 50 per cent of its staff including senior officers took a pledge to donate their organs.

Jung also appreciated efforts and contribution of Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in the field of organ transplant in India. Jung, along with his wife had already pledged to donate his organs to ILBS on 23 May.
