These buses are a part of a new fleet of 400 buses that the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) is going to introduce within one year on 80 STA approved routes in a phased manner. While 300 buses will be low floor, the remaining 100 will be standard floor buses with a seating capacity of 26 persons. These buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras and will be monitored through the Global Positioning System (GPS). Electronic display boards will prominently display the destinations on the buses.
Taking a step further towards modernizing the feeder buses, DMRC’s smart cards will be valid for travel on these buses. The tendering procedure for the procurement of hand held validators for these smart cards is currently in progress.
An SMS based information system has already been started for the commuters to get details about the feeder buses. To track the location of a feeder bus, all one has to do is send ‘bus stop code’ to 9968955370.
