Kunal Ghosh’s bail petition rejected, remanded in 5-day police custody

Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, who was arrested on Saturday, was produced before Bidhannagar court and remanded in police custody for five days.

Sources said, during the hearing Kunal broke down before the judge. He was looking very depressed after his name came out in the Saradha chit fund scam. On Saturday evening the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate arrested Kunal under section 120B (criminal conspiracy) , 406 (criminal breach of trust)and 420 (cheating) of Indian Penal Code under case number 34 registered by the Electronic Complex police station.

The arrest was made after a thorough investigation done by Commissionerate officers under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (detective department), Arnab Ghosh against whom Kunal lodged a complaint on Saturday afternoon at South Bidhannagar police station for unnecessarily harassing him.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate officers raided Kunal residence and seized a hard disk of a computer in the morning. ‘We are going through the hard disk and hopeful to get some more details in to the case. We are also probing that how come he got accessed to Facebook even after his arrest. It seems that someone on behalf of him posted the facebook message after being instructed by Kunal,’ a senior Commissionerate officer said.

‘Preliminary inquiry revealed that one of his friends and the input editor of his new channel might be involved in putting the post on the social networking site. We are interrogating them and if required then action will taken against them,’ he said.
