Kolkata’s biggest community hall inaugurated in Behala

Now the City of Joy gets its biggest community hall in Behala. The four-storeyed community hall was constructed on Sarat Chatterjee Road under the initiative of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). 

The community hall, which was constructed on 6 cottah land, also has an auditorium on its second floor. The capacity of the auditorium is around 300. 

The KMC spent Rs 3 crore to construct the community hall and auditorium. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee named the community hall as Agamoni. The KMC has already received around 500 applications for booking of the community hall till 2017.

Each floor of the air-conditioned community hall is around 4,000 square feet. People can book the community hall in first-come-first-serve basis. One has to pay a rent of Rs 75,000 to book the entire community hall and the auditorium. In case a person wants to book only the auditorium, then he has to pay Rs 12,000 and Rs 50,000 for those want just the community hall.

Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, who is also the councillor of the ward where the community hall has come up, has been praised by the Education Minister Partha Chatterjee for his desperate effort to develop of the city’s civic amenities.

Chatterjee was present during the inauguration of the community hall. Chatterjee also announced that the Chief Minister had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for a polytechnic college at ward number 132 of KMC. 

MP Subrata Bakshi and MLA Debashree Roy were also present. Trinamool Congress MP from Ghatal Dipak Adhikari, who was also present at the programme, requested the Education Minister for a polytechnic college in Ghatal as well. Chatterjee assured all help if an application is prepared in this regard.
