Youth murdered in Panchasayar

Kolkata: A youth has been murdered late on Monday night in Panchasayar.

According to police, on Monday at around 12:20 am, police were informed by a private hospital located in Panchasayar area about a youth identified as Biswarup Das (25), who had been brought there with bleeding injury and was subsequently declared dead. Upon receiving the information, police went to the hospital and sent the body for autopsy examination.

The youth's father Debu Das claimed that a few miscreants at Nabadiganta area of Panchasayar had murdered his son. He alleged that on Monday night after Biswarup returned home, he heard dogs barking just outside of his house.

When he went out, he saw two local miscreants identified as Tarak and Dhalu, along with a few others who were beating the dogs. When Biswarup protested, the miscreants started beating him with a bottle, bricks and wickets.

Hearing his son screaming for help, Debu ran to the spot and tried to save him. Being obstructed by Biswarup's father, the accused persons allegedly assaulted him too. After a few minutes, they fled the spot when other local residents came out of their homes.

Sources informed that though Debu claimed that the accused persons were beating up dogs, they were actually pelting stones on the roof of Biswarup's house. Police sources claimed that though Biswarup was a driver by profession, he was locally known as a rowdy.

He used to be part of Tarak and Dhalu's team earlier but had left a few years ago.
