Youth held for duping firm of Rs 2.58 lakh

KOLKATA: A youth was arrested on Thursday from Hanskhali in Nadia for allegedly duping a finance company worth Rs 2.58 lakh. The accused, identified as Buddhadeb Biswas, was produced at the Bidhannagar ACJM Court on Friday and was remanded to four days police custody. According to sources, Biswas, a former employee of a renowned Information Technology (IT) company had used Aaadhar and PAN cards of seven different people to obtain INSTA POD (Product on demand) card from the said finance company using which products can be purchased in monthly installment payment mode. While submitting the applications online, Biswas had used his mobile number and two bank account numbers. The POD cards were issued between October 5 and October 31 last year.

The company noticed that after purchasing several products worth Rs 2.58 lakh, only one installment for each of the cards was paid. When the monthly installment amounts were not paid, the finance company started an inquiry and found that none of the seven persons, whose Aaadhar and PAN cards were used, had taken any loan.

On December 25, last year a complaint was lodged at the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime police station. Cops tracked the mobile number and the bank details of the accused. On Thursday night, he was picked up from his house.
