Woman held for duping job aspirants
Kolkata: A woman has been arrested for duping several job seekers by promising jobs in a renowned airline company.
According to sources, a few days ago a youth lodged a complaint at the Jadavpur police station stating that he called up on a phone number, which was provided in a job advertisement published in a daily newspaper.
A woman, who identified herself as Tania picked up the call and assured the complainant that he would be given a suitable job in an airline company.
She also told the victim that to get the job, he needs to pay some money. When agreed the woman asked him to pay Rs 71,000 in a bank account.
As per the conversation, the youth transferred the money.
After that he was asked to attend some classes. But after few classes, all sorts of communication were stopped from the accused person's end.
When the victim understood that he has duped, he lodged a complaint. During the investigation, the police found several other job seekers had also fell in the trap of the accused woman and transferred their money to the bank account given by her.
During the investigation, the police got in touch with the bank where the account was registered.
From there the police found a mobile number which was being used for account operations.
After tracking the tower location of the mobile number, police on Thursday arrested the woman from opposite of Gariahat mall. Later, the police found that the woman identified as Poulami Basu of Jadavpur used to interact with job seekers using fake names. She was produced before the concerned court and has been remanded to police custody till November 25.
