Woman from North Kolkata dies of dengue, 4th in row
Kolkata: Dengue has claimed its fourth victim in the city where a woman from North Kolkata died of the disease on Wednesday.
The incident took place after an 11-year-old boy died of the same disease at a private hospital in Kolkata on early Tuesday morning. It was learnt that the victim, Krishna Hazra, a housewife was suffering from fever for the past few days. A resident of Muraripukur area in Manicktala, Hazra was admitted to a local nursing home in North Kolkata four days ago.
Her condition later deteriorated in the hospital. The doctors at the hospital decided to keep the patient at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a few days.
However, the patient died on late Tuesday night.
The death certificate issued by the private hospital says the victim died due to multi-organ failure after she caught dengue. The state Health department is yet to confirm the reason of her death. It may be mentioned that Aarush Dutta (11), a resident of Peary Mohan Sur Lane in North Kolkata, died of dengue at a private hospital at Anandapur on Tuesday. He had been suffering from high fever for the past few days. One Narayan Shrestha (10), a resident of Duttabad road died of dengue at a private hospital on EM Bypass on 30 August.
