Woman found dead at home in Maniktala

Kolkata: A woman was found dead inside a room at Maniktala on Sunday afternoon. According to police, Ashima Roy (23) used to live in room number 108 of Srikrishna Colony in Maniktala.

On Sunday afternoon Roy was found unconscious on the floor inside the room. She was rushed to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

A source said while examining her body, doctors noticed a strangulation mark on the neck. Seeing the mark, doctors were sure that Ashima was murdered.

Based on the information, police and officials of homicide section of Detective Department (DD) visited the place of incident for investigation. It is suspected that she was murdered by someone known to her. But the motive is not clear yet. Sleuths are checking whether she had any enmity with anyone.

The role of her family members are also being investigated. Police are questioning Ashima's husband Biswajit and other family members if any clues could be traced.

Till Sunday night, no one was arrested in this case. Sleuths are waiting for the autopsy report as it may contain information which may help them to crack the case.
