Woman electrocuted in Mechhua Bazar

KOLKATA: A middle-aged woman, identified as Aasma Begum (55), was electrocuted on Wednesday morning at Mechhua Bazar in Madan Mohan Burman Street under Jorashanko police station.

The victim received a fatal electric shock when she stepped on an unauthorized hooking live wire lying on the ground near a water tap.

Upon receiving the information, CESC officers rushed to the spot. Police arrived at the spot later and the victim was moved to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Police are investigating the incident. Supply to the premise was disconnected as a precautionary measure.
