Will examine Charukala Parshad's proposal for art museum: Indranil
Kolkata: The state Information and Cultural Affairs department will examine a proposal from the state Charukala Parshad to set up an art museum in Bengal. "We have got a proposal from the president of state Charukala Parshad for setting up an art museum. I will try my best to make this proposal fruitful," minister of state for Information and Cultural Affairs and Tourism Indranil Sen said.
MP and eminent painter Jogen Chowdhury is the president of the state Charukala Parshad.
Sen, while addressing the inaugural programme of the West Bengal Charukala Utsav at Rabindra Sadan, stressed on digitisation of documents associated with the art and culture.
"A number of documents related to art and culture have gone waste. We are making plans for digitisation and I would seek advice from all of you in this regard," Sen said.
The state government, for the past few years, has
been felicitating veterans as well as young talents during the Utsav.
Eight young and talented artists and nine legends were bestowed honours at Saturday's programme. The brochure for this year's Utsav was also released by Sen.
According to him, the Rabindra Sadan complex has witnessed a major facelift almost two years back and this has made the entire area abuzz with activities.
"There are plans lined up to make this place more attractive," he added.
The Charukala Utsav that kicked off on Saturday at the Nandan complex will continue till December 3.
