Wife files fir after getting thrashed by husband

Kolkata: One Nirajeeta Chowdhury, a resident of Patuli, who got married to one Joy Roychowdhury in 2011 lodged an FIR alleging that she was beaten up by her husband a few days ago.

The victim further alleged that the accused husband has been threatening her life since the incident occurred at her parental house. It was alleged that Joy, a resident of Salt Lake, often turned violent and a result of which she started living with her family members at her parental house for the past 4-5 months.

It was alleged that a few days ago the husband went to meet his wife at the latter's parental house in Patuli where he beat her up following an altercation. The victim received injuries on various parts of her body. The accused immediately fled the spot. The family members of the victim also alleged that the police had initially refused to take an FIR. Even after they were forced to take the complaint, no steps have been taken to arrest the accused.

The family members have also brought the matter to the notice of a judicial magistrate at Salt Lake's Mayukh Bhavan. A relative of the victim said ever since the incident had taken place, the accused has been threatening them with dire consequences. He also alleged of police inaction in this regard.
