WBSEDCL reaches new milestone with SKOCH award

Kolkata: The state Power department has achieved another milestone, as the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL), has been conferred with the prestigious SKOCH Order-Of-Merit for 'Intellectual Billing

with Automated Supervisory

Check System', at the 52nd SKOCH Summit in New Delhi on June 23.

According to a senior official of the WBSEDCL, the prize can be considered as a recognition for them, as it has come up with an innovation in the spot-billing procedure for domestic and commercial consumers.

"The initiative was taken by WBSEDCL. The award is an acknowledgement of WBSEDCL's endeavour to provide 24x7 quality and uninterrupted power to over 1.8 crore valued consumers," an official said.

According to a Press statement issued by Biswarup Mukherjee, Adviser & CPRO, WBSEDCL, the pioneering mechanism involves multiple software facilities in addition to the SAP IS-U system, right from an android based mobile app (Vidyut Sahayogi) for meter reading and bill

generation, to layered supervision and storage of consumer data.

It has increased the billing efficacy, data security and authenticity. With the help of this facility, 100 percent billing has been achieved. The energy bill is delivered at the consumer's doorstep on the same day of meter reading.

The meter-reading image, along with capturing of latitude-longitude of the consumer's premise and date and time, are done with the help of new technology, besides generation of bill. The image verification software and profiling facility also helps in central data supervision, apart from being a quick and transparent way of dispute resolution.

Vidyut Sahayogi is a multilingual mobile application of the state electricity distribution company, to help its customers get better service.

The app has been developed with state-of-the-art technology based on Android mobile platform, for the customers of WBSEDCL. Apart from paying bills, the mobile application will also help customers apply for new connections.
