Veteran actor Chinmoy Roy falls off apartment, condition stable

Kolkata: Veteran Bengali actor Chinmoy Roy, who had fallen off the fifth floor of his apartment on Saturday evening, is now stated to be in a stable condition.

According to a hospital spokesperson, the patient was "stable neurologically" and is showing the signs of improvement.

The 77-year-old actor suffered injuries on his head, arms, legs and other parts of the body after he fell off from the fifth floor of his residential apartment in South Kolkata.

According to locals, the actor was found lying on the ground with multiple injuries. He was immediately admitted to Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences where he is undergoing treatment.

The veteran actor has been kept at the critical care unit of the hospital.

The patient suffered arm and femur fractures. The doctors are not ruling out the possibility of a vertebral injury. The patient is not in ventilation as he is neurologically stable.

The circumstances under which he had fallen under investigation by the concerned authorities. Police are yet to confirm whether the victim accidentally fell or there was any foul play behind the

incident.

Police have already started a detailed probe in this regard.

Many actors and directors from the Bengali film industry visited Roy in the hospital on Sunday.

Many of his followers also thronged outside the hospital to meet the actor.

But they were not allowed to meet the actor as his condition is still critical.

The veteran actor had acted in classics like Charmurti, Basanta Bilap and Nanigopaler Biye.
