Uttar Dinajpur officials raid pvt hospitals

Senior Health department officials of Uttar Dinajpur district have started raids at various private hospitals across the district to monitor their functioning.

During the raids at some of the nursing homes at Raiganj, the senior district Health officials have expressed their unhappiness.

The officials have found some serious infrastructural lapses and asked the private hospital authorities to fulfill the requisite criteria. They have found that most of the nursing homes in the district were not complying with the norms prescribed by the state government.

The district administration also decided to hold a meeting with the senior officials of various private nursing homes in the district next week to discuss various issues.

It was learnt that the district administration has decided to take stern action against the nursing homes that are flouting the norms. According to a senior official in the district, license of a private nursing home may be cancelled if it is found to have flouted the guidelines that are required to run such a hospital.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee few days ago, had said that she would hold meetings with the senior officials of the districts giving them instructions to monitor the functioning of the private nursing homes in the districts.

Prior to this incident, the Chief Minister held a meeting with the senior officials of various private hospitals in the city giving out a strong message.

For this, the state government has amended necessary changes in the Clinical Establishment Bill so that the accountability of these private hospitals could be fixed.

There are a total of 25 private hospitals in the district. Senior health officials are examining the entire procedure of admission of patients, the rate chart and the infrastructure of the hospitals.

A senior official said that seven days would be given to the nursing homes to rectify the lapses of the nursing homes. Health officials in the district will submit a report to the District Magistrate in this regard.
