Under-trial prisoner's body found hanging from tree

Kolkata: The body of an under-trial prisoner was found hanging from a tree inside Presidency Central Correctional Home on Saturday late afternoon.
The victim was identified as Sabir Ali Naskar (24)
who was serving imprisonment on charges of criminal breach of trust (Section 409) of the IPC.
The Correctional Home Authorities informed the Hastings police station who brought down the body from the tree and sent it for post-mortem.
"Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.
"There is no external injury marks on the body," an officer of Hastings police station said.
The prison authorities are completely in the dark about what led Naskar to commit suicide.
"We are questioning his fellow inmates to find out whether he was suffering from any sort of depression," a senior official of the Correctional Home said.
It may be mentioned that Presidency Correctional Home was in the news on March 2017 when an inmate was stabbed during a fight between two rival groups.
However, the injured, identified as Shiekh Mongal recovered after treatment at the prison hospital.
