Kolkata: The Kolkata Zonal Unit team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested two youths from Salt Lake for their alleged involvement in drug peddling.
The accused are Niloy Ghosh and Jerom Watson. Niloy has obtained a management degree from a private management college in Salt Lake while Watson is a student of event management.
During the investigation, NCB has come to know that the two accused used to supply narcotic substances to many of the college students in the city. The duo used to organise rave parties in Kolkata. NCB has seized 148 LSD blots and Ecstasy tablets from their possession.
A senior official of NCB said that the accused used to supply narcotics which might appear akin to lozenges. These lozenges used to carry some code names on their wrappers which would give a hint as to whom they would be dispatched to. According to an NCB official, the seized drugs would have been supplied to various rave parties, which will be organised during Christmas and New Year.
According to the NCB official, these drugs were being supplied to various institutions in the city. There were agents who would buy these drugs from the accused and then supply them to the students of various colleges which are under the scanner of NCB.
After interrogating Niloy, the investigators have come to know that he used to supply LSD, Ecstasy and MDMA to 90 per cent of the rave parties that are organised in the city.NCB also conducted a raid at a medicine shop run by Niloy. They also raided his house in Salt Lake where they seized his bank passbook and laptop. The accused used to fetch these drugs through courier service, the investigation has revealed. According to the preliminary investigation, the NCB officials suspect that he used to bring these narcotics from China.
It may be mentioned here that NCB on last Sunday had seized a huge cache of high grade Malana Hasish and drugs such as LSD and Ecstasy during a raid. Three people, including the disc jockey of a posh nightclub in the Park Street area in South Kolkata were arrested in the incident.
