Two miscreants abscond after shooting woman in Sonarpur

Kolkata: A young woman was shot in the head by two unknown miscreants at Ghoshpara area in Sonarpur on Tuesday night. Immediately, the woman was rushed to a private hospital in Kolkata, where she is undergoing a major surgery. According to locals, at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, two miscreants came in front of the house of one Puja Mahajan. She went outside as she heard someone calling her. As soon as she went out, one of the miscreants fired a bullet at Puja's head. The duo fled the spot immediately after Puja hit the ground, bleeding profusely.

Hearing the gunshot, locals rushed to the spot and saw Puja lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition where doctors are treating her. She is currently undergoing a major surgery to remove the bullet from her head.

Sources informed that Puja's father Kalo Mahajan was arrested a month ago in a cheating case. At present he is in judicial custody. Sleuths are investigating if that case has any connection with Tuesday's incident. Also, whether Puja had any enmity with anyone regarding any relation is being looked into.
