Two including Class XI boy murdered in Nadia
Kolkata: Two youth including a Class XI student were brutally murdered in Nadia district, under Kalyani police station limits. The bodies of both the victims were recovered from the roadside in the wee hours of Thursday.
There were injury marks on various parts of the bodies.
"Prima facie, it appears that the duo were hacked to death. Both of them were called from their residences by some people more or less on the same time on Wednesday night. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem," an investigating officer of Kalyani police station said.
The deceased have been identified as Susanta Mondal (27) and Dipankar Ghatak (17). Ghatak, who was a student of Class XI of Shikshayatan School, used to reside at Vidyasagar Palli, while Mondal, who used to deal with marbles, was a resident of Rabindra Pally area. "We are not too sure whether the persons who had called Dipankar were his friends. When he did not return till late night and his cell phone was found switched, we searched for him till the wee hours and found that he had been killed," a relative of the deceased student said.
Family members of Mondal said he was also called by some of his friends at around 12.30 am following which he left his house.
"They were residents of different areas located in close proximity. However, their bodies were recovered from the same place. We are not ruling out links between the crimes," a senior police officer said.
The sleuths are grilling the relatives of both the deceased to know whether the deceased knew one another. "The same group may be involved in the crime. We are exploring all angles," a police officer said.
