Two elephants trample two to death in Jhargram, locals on alert

Kolkata: Two persons including a woman were trampled to death by two elephants in Jhargram on Thursday.
Police said the first incident took place in Barodanga village where a woman was killed. The other incident took place in the adjacent Dherigeria village where a middle-aged man was attacked and he was trampled to death.
The victim woman went inside the jungle to collect some herbs when she was attacked by the two elephants. She initially didn't notice the two elephants but she was suddenly attacked and didn't find any way out to escape.
Police said she received severe injuries when trampled by the elephants. She was declared brought dead when taken to hospital.
Within a couple of hours, the elephants attacked a middle-aged man when he was headed towards the market on his bicycle.
The victim was a local resident and he was going to the market to buy some essential goods when the elephants had attacked him all of a sudden. They trampled
him to death.
Concerned officers went to the spot and managed to send the elephants inside the jungle. The incident created panic in the area. But the officers have taken all necessary steps for the security of the locals.
The officials have also asked the locals to be alert so that they could take some preventive measures to avoid attack by the elephants.
