Two crushed under speeding truck

In a tragic incident two youth were killed after being crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck.
The accident took place near Chamrail more in Liluah on National Highway 6. The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Chatterjee and Sona Das. They were riding on a motorbike when the accident happened. The accident disrupted the traffic movement in the area. Both the deceased were residents of Batra area in Howrah.
Police said that the bike the victims were riding on collided with a vehicle and the two youth fell on the road when a speeding truck coming from the behind ran over them. The local residents said that the bike was at top speed and as a result the bikers lost control when a car suddenly came in front of the bike. Both the bikers fell on the ground after hitting the vehicle. The truck which was coming from the behind could not stop and the youth were crushed under the speeding truck.
The truck driver fled the spot along with the vehicle after the accident. The local residents and police rushed them to the hospital where they were declared brought dead. The bodies were sent for the post-mortem. The local residents said that the bikers and the vehicles often over-speed resulting in road accidents. They also demanded the police to conduct surveillance from time to time in order to crack down on the vehicles that flout the traffic norms. As a result of the incident, a huge traffic jam was created on National Highway 6. Senior police officers rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police are conducting raids to nab the truck driver.
