Two cops injured in separate accidents

Kolkata: Two policemen were injured in two separate accidents in two different places in the city on Sunday. The incident occurred near the Shakespeare and Upper Wood Street Crossing around 11 am when a police constable Naresh Majhi was hit by a Uber cab. The victim, who has currently been serving at South TP Guard, received injuries on his left elbow. He was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital by his fellow colleagues where he was discharged from later in the day. On the basis of a specific complaint, police started a probe. The vehicle was seized and the driver had been detained for interrogation.

In the other incident, another a police personnel identified as Biswajit Sarkar of Sealdah TP guard was injured after being dashed by a speeding ambulance. The incident took place on Beliaghata main road at 4.30 pm. His right leg got injured in the accident. He was taken to the NRS Medical College and Hospital and later discharged after the primary treatment. The vehicle has also been seized by the police following the incident.
