Two arrested for killing woman whose husband promised `1 lakh for the murder

Police have arrested the two main accused who were involved in the murder of a housewife in Katwa whose husband had engaged the contarct killers to carry out the crime.
The victim's husband was earlier arrested by the police. During the interrogation, the accused, Ujjal Bhaskar Ghosh, a teacher by profession, admitted to the crime. Police on Monday morning arrested the accused — Azad Seikh and Jakir Hossain from an area in Katwa situated close to the Bhagirathi river by tracking their mobile location. Police had prior information that the accused might try to sneak into Bangladesh while being at large. The investigating officer came to know that the two accused were roaming at Nadia's Tehatta area on Sunday.
Police personnel were deployed at areas beside the river surrounding at Katwa as they had specific information that the duo would take a boat. The accused also admitted that they had a plan to flee to the neighbouring country after being in a hideout in Nadia since the crime had taken place.
Police said that the accused are dreaded criminals and several cases have been pending against them in different police stations. The victim's husband engaged Azad for executing the crime for which he had promised to give him Rs 1 lakh.
The accused, a history teacher of a Higher Secondary school in Katwa, had been planning the execution of his wife for the past three years. He finally appointed the contract killers. The crime had taken place inside his house at Katwa stadium para area on the night of 18 July.
Police are conducting raids to nab the two others who were involved in the murder of Mahua Ghosh who was throttled to death. The victim's husband was present in the house when the incident took place. After committing the crime, the accused dumped the body of the woman in a nearby bush. Some of the local residents the next morning found the body lying in the bush a few metres away from the house.
