Two arrested for attacking, molesting doctor & her maid

Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to kill two women in Salt Lake on Wednesday. Both the victims were also molested by the arrested persons when they tried

to resist.

According to police, the complainant, a doctor by profession, has a chamber at her house at DB block in Salt Lake. It is alleged that on Wednesday around 3:15 pm when she was about to open the chamber, the care taker of the said house identified as Soumen Baruah and a woman named Rinku Chatterjee, along with some goons, threatened her to close the chamber.

On sensing danger she called her domestic help. When she arrived and tried to save the doctor, both of them were assaulted by Baruah. The domestic help was dragged inside a room and molested by him. Chatterjee also tried to strangulate her. When the doctor went to save her, Chatterjee and Baruah allegedly jumped on her. Later, her saree and other clothes were torn. When both of them screamed, the security guard of the chamber rushed in and managed to save the victims from the accused persons. The goons immediately fled the scene. Both the women were taken to Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Later, the doctor lodged a complaint against the accused persons at Bidhnannagar North police station.

On the basis of the complaint, police arrested both Chatterjee and Baruah on charges of attempt to murder, molestation and other offences. They were remanded to judicial custody after they were produced before the Bidhannagar Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
