Two arrested for abducting, confining two men over loan repayment
Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested by Survey Park police station for allegedly abducting and confining a person to extort the amount they had allegedly loaned out to him earlier.
Sources informed that Prashanta Mondal, a resident of Falta received a phone call and gave him a business proposal on November 14. Mondal, an insurance agent by profession, went to Hiland Park with his friend Pradip Maity to meet the person who claimed indentified as Suman Jana. When they reached, Mondal and Maity were taken to a flat on the fourth floor of a high-rise building.
After discussing about a business, all of a sudden, a person appeared there claiming to be a police officer from Diamond Harbour.
He told them they will freed if they give Rs 3 lakh. Mondal and Miaty's mobile phone were taken away from. Later, both of them were beaten up and confined to a room. Four dogs were left outside the room to guard the room. Late on that night, some miscreants forcefully took Mondal's ATM cum Debit card and obtained the PIN number and withdrew Rs 42,000. They also forced him to call his family and transfer Rs 89,000 through internet banking to an account.
Mondal was released on November 15 and Maity a day later. After the victims lodged a complaint on Nov 19, police went to the flat at Hiland Park and found it locked. From the local sources, the sleuths came to know about Suman and Sudipta Jana, who were engaged by the flat owner to maintain the dogs. Later, police arrested the duo. They were remanded to police custody by the Alipore Court till November 28.
