Twelve TMC workers injured in attack by miscreants at Purulia

Kolkata: Twelve Trinamool Congress workers were injured when they were attacked by some outsiders at Balarampur in Purulia on Wednesday.
Police said that the Trinamool Congress workers were attacked all of a sudden, when they had assembled in one place to join a political programme.
The party workers had assembled at Balarampur in Purulia, when the incident took place. Before the attacked Trinamool Congress workers could manage to retaliate or catch the miscreants, they had managed to flee.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, the top brass of the state police had stated that people from outside were brought into the state with an intention to create trouble ahead and during the upcoming Panchayat polls.
The incident in Purulia has once again brought the matter to light and the police have initiated a probe in this connection and are trying to arrest the accused.
All the injured workers have been provided with necessary treatment.
The police are patrolling the area to avoid any further deterioration of the law and order situation there.
Meanwhile, another incident in which a Trinamool Congress worker was manhandled, took place at Bandel in Hooghly. A leader of the youth wing of the party was manhandled by assailants when he was returning home.
Since the police have found involvement of outsiders in many incidents of violence taking place ahead of the Panchayat polls, necessary steps including checking by police at all the entry and exit points of the state, have been taken up.
It may be recalled that the investigation had revealed involvement of outsiders in the Raiganj incident, in which bullets were fired in the air, bombs were hurled and many shops were ransacked.
The police had arrested three "outsiders", who hailed from Chanchal in Malda, in connection with the incident.
