Train service halts as overhead wire snaps

KOLKATA: Train service was disrupted on the Barasat-Bongaon section after the overhead wire between Bira and Guma stations snapped. According to sources, the incident happened at around 5 pm on Wednesday. As a result, several local trains were detained at multiple stations on the Barasat-Bongaon section.

Upon receiving the news, South Eastern Railway (SER) officials promptly acted and a tower van was sent to the spot for necessary repair work. Due to this, the passengers of the Sealdah-Bongaon section faced tremendous hazard in reaching their destinations. Normal services on the Barasat-Bangaon Section were restored at 7.02 pm, after necessary repair work. Two pairs of local trains had to be cancelled, while three pairs were short terminated at Duttapukur.
