TMC to hold competition in N 24-Pgs to judge people's knowledge about CM's devp projects

Kolkata: The North 24-Parganas district Trinamool Congress will hold competitions in all wards and blocks across the district, where people will have to speak for seven minutes on the development projects of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The district administration is hopeful that this initiative will contribute in raising awareness about the various schemes of the government in the best possible manner.

"The competition will start from August 16. It will commence right from the village level and then extend to the blocks and towns and finally, there will be a competition in the district level. It will also build awareness about the development schemes undertaken by our party supremo Mamata Banerjee," said Jyotipriya Mallick, district president of TMC North 24-Parganas.

The decision was taken at the core committee meeting of North 24-Parganas that was held on Sunday.

A source in the district TMC said that Trinamool Youth Congress will organise the entire matter and the district-wise competition will be held sometime in the month of September. The whole idea has been conceived by Abhishek Banerjee, who is the president of the party's youth wing.

"It will be a sort of talent hunt for creating a panel of good speakers and show that we do not always need senior leaders for holding rallies successfully," a TMC leader said.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed her party leaders to ensure that more and more people in the state get the benefits of the various projects taken by her government, that include Kanyashree, Rupashree, Sabuj Sathi, Sabujshree and Khadya Sathi to name a few. "This stride will help us reach every doorstep and we hope that this will be a model for the other parts of the state," the leader maintained.

Mallick said from August 1 to 14 there will be meetings at every booth level, where the party will be raising voice against the BJP government's anti-people policies.
