TMC holds rally against BJP's vendetta politics, calls for Dilip Ghosh's arrest

Trinamool Congress women's wing on Thursday demanded the arrest of state BJP president Dilip Ghosh for "trying to influence Narada sting operation probe."

Led by the TMC's women's wing president Chandrima Bhattacharya, a rally was organised from College Square and after passing through important thoroughfares, it ended at Esplanade.

Party leaders Sashi Panja and Smita Bakshi also took part in the rally. Trinamool Congress has been organising rallies in the city to protest against the political vendetta of BJP and other Opposition parties. Mayor Sovan Chatterjee will lead the rally that will be held on Friday.

Bhattacharya alleged that CBI had not taken any action against Sujan Chakraborty who had initially helped Saradha owners to acquire land in South 24 Parganas. "All the chit fund companies had flourished during the Left Front regime and none of their leaders have been arrested. On the other hand, CBI is keeping Trinamool Congress leaders behind the bars and had released them later after failing to frame charge-sheets against them."

She asked how could state BJP president Dilip Ghosh say that after results of UP Assembly elections were declared, the High Court would ask for CBI inquiry into the Narada case.

"He should be arrested immediately for influencing the probe," she said.

She said that the CBI should also investigate who had funded the Narada sting operation as the editor had often changed his version.
