Three arrested for carrying fake notes worth Rs 1 lakh

The Malda district police arrested three persons on the charge of carrying Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) on Monday night. The investigators recovered FICN worth Rs 1 Lakh from the accused. Police said that Abdul Rashid, Kashim Shekh and Shahood Shekh would soon be produced before the court.

All of the three accused were 18-years-old. They were residents of Bihar, but were temporarily staying at Mohanpur Village. This is the fourth consecutive incident where the police nabbed culprits

with FICN approximately within a month.

It should be recalled that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with Bengal Police arrested two persons on the charge of stocking Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) from a hotel near Malda Railway Station on Sunday.

The fact which could be a big worry for the Narendra Modi government in Centre is that out of 17 exclusive traits in Rs 2,000, 14 were successfully copied by the FICN makers.

It should be recalled that police arrested a person on the charge of stocking counterfeit Indian currency at Rathbari in Malda on Saturday night. The investigators arrested 45-year-old Mukulesh Mian alias Bhutto.

The investigators received fake Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 92,000. It will also be recalled that police arrested a Congress worker Digambar Mondal, a member of Kaliachak-3 panchayat on the charge of carrying counterfeit currencies at Malda's Baishnabnagar in February 27.

The man was trying to give two fake Rs 2,000 notes to a shopkeeper at a market.

On Sunday night, the investigators booked Talat Mehmood and Golam Murtaza. They both were resident of English Bazar. Talat, resident of
Budhia Village of English Bazar and Golam Murtaza, resident of Kamalabari of the same area were interrogated for a while. Police recovered Rs 3.98 lakh FICN from the accused in denominations of Rs 2,000 notes.

The sleuths were trying to locate the source from where FICN is entering into India. The investigators
believe that those notes were made in Bangladesh.

Acting on a tip-off, on Monday night, policemen raided the houses of Abdul Rashid, Kashim Shekh and Shahood Shekh. The investigators learnt that those notes were supposed to be sent to Bihar.
