Teenager hangs self in South 24-Pgs

Kolkata: An 18-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling inside his house at Bishnupur area in South 24-Parganas on Tuesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Pijush Karmakar (18). The police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of suicide. It was found during investigation that the victim returned home late on Monday. After having his dinner he went into his room and locked the door from inside.

Family members of the victim started knocking on the door as he did not respond to their calls. Despite repeated knocks, the victim did not open the door. Some of the family members with the help of the local residents broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling.

After being informed the police reached the spot and recovered the body. The police later sent the body for an autopsy.

According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide following some depression. Police have started a case of unnatural death. Police are interrogating the family members and some of the victim's friends in this connection. A detailed probe has been initiated.
