Teen molested by attending doctor, probe initiated

Kolkata: A ruckus was created at a diagnostic centre at Moulali on Friday morning after a teen girl accused a doctor of physically assaulting her on the pretext of conducting a test.

The victim girl later lodged a complaint at Muchipara police station on the basis of which police have detained him for interrogation.

The victim has alleged that she went to the diagnostic centre for an USG. When she stepped into the USG room, the accused doctor asked his lady attendant to go out of the room. As the woman left the room, the accused touched her inappropriately on the pretext of conducting the test.

The accused doctor, however, has denied the allegations and claimed he had been framed. During police interrogation the accused doctor said he never abused her and he was just performing his duty.

The staff of the diagnostic centre claimed the doctor had no previous history of physically assaults on women and demanded an independent inquiry into the incident.

Police may also interrogate some of the staff in connection with the incident.
