Teen held for allegedly killing father

Kolkata: A 19-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his father to death at Ahiripukur 2nd Lane, under Beniapukur police station area on Saturday.

Md Imran allegedly had a scuffle with his father Rahamat Ali, at his home on Friday night before going to sleep. Around 9.10 pm, Imran entered his 50-year-old father's room and allegedly began to hit him on the head with a screw driver. Leaving his father in a pool of blood, he fled the scene, Rahamat was rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbours. The police later began a manhunt for Imran. He has been charged with murder. According to neighbours, Imran killed his father due to a family dispute. This apart, he always used to ask for money from his father. On Friday night, Imran might have asked for money, and his father must have denied, resulting in a heated discussion. "Imran's mother called at 1.30 am on Friday, and informed me about the incident. We immediately rushed to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital and saw Rahamat in a critical condition. He breathed his last at 1 pm on Saturday," said Imran's maternal uncle.
