Tea stall owner rescues youth stabbed by 'friend'

Kolkata: A youth, identified as Pritam Das, was stabbed on the Prince Anwar Shah Road on Sunday morning. He sought help from a tea stall owner, who informed local residents, police and admitted him to the hospital.

According to a source, around 5:30 am on Sunday, the tea stall owner, Shyamal Saha, was about to open his shop when he heard a voice calling for help. After looking around for a while he saw Das lying on the footpath and calling for help. He saw Das's shirt was soaked with blood.

With help from another local resident, Saha informed the police and took Das to Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital. A source said Das studied mass communication at an institute in South Kolkata. He is a resident of Siliguri. Das lived at 2/27 Rajendra Prasad Colony as a paying guest, which is close the incident spot.

Sleuths got a tip-off recently that there was conflict between Das and one of his friends regarding a woman. It is alleged that his friend along with some persons came in a cab at the incident spot.

A few moments later when Das arrived he was allegedly stabbed by his friend. The accused fled the scene as soon as Das hit the ground bleeding profusely.
