Tangra double murder: Man arrested for killing wife, father over illicit relation
Kolkata: The police arrested a person on Saturday, for his alleged involvement in the murder of his wife and father. The incident took place at China Town in Tangra on Friday, triggering tension among the local residents.
The victims have been identified as Lee Ka Sang (80) and Hau Mi Ha (60). The accused, Lee Wan Sang, the husband of Mi Ha and a son of Ka Sang, has admitted to his crime during a prolonged police interrogation. Lee might have been involved in an extra marital relationship, which had deteriorated the relation between the couple, suspect police as per the preliminary investigation.
The investigating officers came to know in the course of the probe that the couple used to have frequent quarrels after Mi Ha came to know about her husband's illicit relationship with another woman. She had also raised a strong objection to the extra marital relationship but failed to dissuade her husband.
On Friday night, a quarrel broke out between the two. During the scuffle, the accused hit his wife with an iron bucket in a fit of rage, resulting in serious injuries to her head.
The accused's father rushed to the spot and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. After his father demanded an explanation as to why he had hit his wife, Lee hit his father with the same bucket.
After committing the crime, the accused locked the main entrance gate from inside and left the house by jumping over the boundary wall of the house, to evade suspicion of the police. A few hours after the incident, the
accused returned home and drew the attention of the local residents to the locked door.
He then entered the house again, along with others. The local residents called the police after seeing the bodies inside.
The investigating officers soon went through the tower location of the mobile phone of the accused and found that he was there at the same spot at the time of the incident. Police also recovered the bucket which contained blood stains. Lee subsequently collapsed during interrogation and admitted to the twin murder.
