Take stern action against private nursing homes: CM to W Midnapore district admin

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed West Midnapore district administration to take stern action against private nursing homes that have not cooperated with senior officials in furnishing details on their establishments.

During discussions, it came up that several private nursing home authorities had not cooperated with senior officials of the state Health department and refused to give them details on the establishments and information about patients.

Banerjee instructed senior officials to take stern action, if needed, even legal action could be taken against the errant nursing homes.

Officials were instructed to carry out their drive and ensure that no patient was harassed.

Banerjee once again reiterating that the doctors need not be scared as the newly-made Clinical Establishment Act aimed to stop harassment of patients by a few private

nursing homes and hospitals who often ask them to pay inflated bills.

"The doctors serve people and they do not have to worry. We want to end harassment of patients by some private nursing homes," she maintained.
