Swapnor Bhor members come together for 'Pithey' festival

Kolkata: A ''Pithey'' festival was held at Swapno Bhor, the state's only activity hub for senior citizens in New Town.

Along with the festival of 'Pithey' Puli, there were cultural shows. Unlike other 'Pithey' Puli festivals, the members had prepared and enjoyed them. Though 'Pithey' festival is held during the month of Pous, the members thought that meeting each other is the all important thing. Swapno Bhor has a two-storeyed building housing a library, a lounge and an auditorium. Cultural shows and lectures are held throughout the year, where members also take part. Indoor game competitions are held annually.

Before Durga Puja, the members are taken out on a tour to different places. The number of members is going up because of the activities throughout the year. Taking cue from the success of Swapno Bhor, Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has decided to keep an open space at Snehadiya, a residency for senior citizens where they may give coaching to children coming from economically challenged background.
