Kolkata: Suvendu Adhikari, the state Transport minister, made a surprise check at a long distance bus on Digha-Asansol route.
Adhikari visited the bus terminus at Digha and entered the bus which was about to leave. He examined the condition of the bus and then spoke to the passengers as well. He wanted to know whether they were happy with the service provided by the state Transport department.
The minister also checked whether the passengers had valid tickets or not. He advised the driver to drive the bus carefully and the conductors to behave soberly with the passengers.
Adhikari said in the past few years, the service provided by the long-distance buses has gone up.
The buses are running on time and the condition of the vehicles are much better than what they were during the Left Front regime.
He further maintained that as the road connectivity has improved, the flow of people to the coastal resorts from the districts has also shot up.
Adhikari also said that he could conduct surprise checks in future as well to improve the services and develop contacts with the passengers.
