Suvendu Adhikari inaugurates renovated Kudghat & Garia Bus Terminuses
Kolkata: State Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday inaugurated the renovated Kudghat Bus Terminus and Garia number 6 Bus Terminus.
"We have renovated a number of bus stands in the city and have constructed many new bus terminuses. Modernisation of the existing bus terminus beside Netaji Metro station was undertaken for the benefit of the commuters," said Adhikari.
The cost of construction of the modernised Kudghat Bus Terminus has been Rs 1.70 crore. It consists of two newly constructed passenger shelters with proper seating arrangement, two-storey pay and use toilet and dormitory and illumination of the entire terminus.
At present, bus routes operating from Kudghat are S 2 (Kudghat to Howrah Station), AC 47 (Kudghat to Shapoorji) and V 1 (Kudghat to Airport).
Meanwhile, Adhikari also lashed out at the erstwhile Left Front government for neglecting government buses. "During their time people used to hesitate in boarding state buses. But now, under the leadership of our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, more than eight lakh people commute on government buses daily," he added.
State Transport secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam, West Bengal Transport Corporation managing director Rajanvir Singh Kapur and state Sports minister Aroop Biswas were present on the occasion.
