Sundarini Naturals to offer mini milk stalls across city

Kolkata: Sunderban Co-operative Milk and Livestock Producers Ltd (SCMLPL) that offers milk and a plethora of milk products under the brand name Sundarini Naturals has made plans to strengthen its delivery mechanism by setting up mini stalls at different apartments in the city. Work for developing the infrastructure has come to a halt in the present COVID-19 situation and the ball will be set rolling as soon as the lockdown is

lifted.

"We will put up advertisements seeking space inside apartments for setting up mini stalls, which will be selling milk and milk products like ghee, paneer etc and products like honey, rice, sona moong dal, eggs under our own brand," said a senior official of SCMLPL.

According to plan, these mini outlets will act as pick up points from where various products will be collected through its own network and sold in different parts of the city. The city will be divided into two zones north and south. "We are also working on developing an app through which orders can be placed for home delivery," the official added.

Sundarini is partnering with Swiggy for home delivery from its existing outlets, located at Parnasree in Behala, Joka, Muchipara near Tollygunge-Karunamoyee, Santoshpur, Ajoynagar. Motijheel in Dum Dum and Kolkata airport. "The delivery through Swiggy will start very soon. Talks are on with some other online delivery platforms too," informed the official.

SCMLPL has ensured its daily collection of 2000 litres milk from the milk farmers even during the lockdown period, so that they haven't been denied their income in the ongoing lockdown

period.

Sundarini, a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was rolled out to empower the women of Sunderbans in the year 2015. It started with packaged milk but now it sells milk in bottles.

The cooperative scores over others for its organic method adopted in every step, right from milk collection to the transportation of its dairy plant and then manufacturing the milk products.

There is no use of chemicals and the cows are not injected with antibiotics. Milk is never poured into plastic containers. It is stored in steel containers so that the quality is not compromised. Afterward, these milk cans are sent to the cooperative's dairy plant in Joynagar, where other products are made.
