Sukharanjan Sengupta given Lifetime achievement award

Veteran journalist Sukharanjan Sengupta was given the prestigious Lifetime achievement award by Dr Sashi Panja, Minister of State for Women and Child Development and social welfare along with actress Rituparna Sengupta and Indrajit Roy at a function held in the city on Sunday.
A prominent name in the field of political journalism, Sengupta is known for his passion for honest journalism, which earned him reverence in the journalism fraternity. His autobiography Ranga Pother Ranga Dhulae has become immensely popular among readers.
The previous six editions witnessed the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award being presented to media stalwarts such as Late Moti Nandi (1st edition), Durgadas Chatterjee (2nd edition), Nihal Singh (3rd edition), Amitava Chowdhury (4th edition), Kishore Bhimani (5th edition) and Uday Banerjee (6th Edition).
The judge's panel for this year included well known journalists like Abhijit Dasgupta, retired station director of Doordarshan (Indian National Television), Tulsi Dutta, Subrata Nag Choudhury among others.
The Journalism Awards Committee has been organising this event for seven year and the working members of the committee this year included Subrata Patranobis, Chittaranjan Biswas and Buroshiva Dasgupta.

Journalists play an imperative role in our democratic society as they provide us with information, enabling us to know of what is going around us.
