Students of Birati college gherao principal

Students at Mrinalini Dutta Mahavidyalay in Birati gheroaed the principal of the college on Thursday for a few hours demanding some infrastructural revamp. The gherao was, however, lifted in the noon after the principal had assured that he would look into the demands. The agitating students have alleged that they urged the principal to put in place some infrastructural reforms but the principal did not take any step in this regard.

Some union leaders of the college also demanded the resignation of the principal. The incident triggered tension at the college campus. Some of the college students alleged that outsiders have been in entering into the college campus and the security personnels are not often found at the college campus. This raises serious questions on the security of the students. The students also alleged that teachers often bunk classes.
