Stop infighting and start working together: Bakshi

Kolkata: Subrata Bakshi, Trinamool Congress president, has urged party leaders and workers to gear up for the forthcoming Panchayat elections and ensure the victory of all candidates.
A meeting was held at Trinamool Bhavan on Thursday afternoon which was attended by all the party MLAs of South 24 Parganas. Sovan Chatterjee who is also the president of South 24-Parganas did not attend the meeting on health grounds.
Subrata Bakshi will look after the unit for the Panchayat election. Bakshi urged party workers to bury differences and work together for the party.
There are pockets in South 24-Parganas where there is infighting. It may be mentioned that TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has over and again asked party leaders to bury hatchets and work together. She also warned them that stern action would be taken if they do not stop infighting. In all the party meetings held recently, Banerjee has asked the leaders to ensure the victory of all party nominees in the Panchayat election.
Banerjee told the leaders and workers that unless the Panchayats were under control, it would be difficult for the state government to carry on with the development projects.
As the BJP is trying to gain strength in certain pockets in the district, party leaders on Thursday asked the workers to build contacts with the locals and make them aware about the various schemes that have been taken up by the state government. In 2008, the Trinamool Congress gained control over the Zilla Parishad of South 24-Parganas by defeating the CPI(M).
This was the beginning of the Left Front regime's downfall in the state. In 2013, Trinamool retained its control over the Zilla Parishad.
