State sets up Mukutmanipur Development Board

The state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department have set up Mukutmanipur Development Board for comprehensive development of the area, particularly tourism.
The area under the jurisdiction of the newly formed Mukutmanipur Development Authority ( MDA) is 87.50 km. This includes 10 mouzas of Hirabandh block, 19 mouzas of Khatra block and 27 mouzas of Ranibandh block. MDA is headed by the District Magistrate of Bankura as its chairperson. The MLA from Ranibandh is the vice chairperson and SDO, Khatra is the executive officer.
The main purpose of MDA would be to develop tourism in vast areas surrounding Mukutmanipur. The planning area covers the Mukutmanipur dam, a well-known tourist spot with great scenic beauty, Pareshnath temple, Musafirana, a hillock beside the dam and Banpukhuria deer park. In addition to this, vast areas of Jangalmahal like Jhilmil Sutan and Talberia which are situated close to MDA will be developed as tourist spots. The areas have rich cultural heritage and there are artisans who can manufacture craft items from bamboo, babui grass etc. Attempts would be made to showcase the products made by local artisans.
