State mulls including cyber crime studies in HS syllabus

KOLKATA: The senior officials of state Information Technology and Higher Education departments will discuss about the syllabus that will be followed to train students to prevent cyber crime.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the administrative review meeting held in Jhargram on Friday had urged RS Shukla, additional chief secretary in charge of Higher Education department to include cyber crime in the syllabus to train the students and this will help them to fetch jobs as cyber crime is on the rise throughout the globe. It has been decided that as the Information Technology (IT) department has a centre of excellence, Debashis Sen, additional chief secretary in charge of IT department will sit with Shukla to discuss about the syllabus that will be taught to the students. Banerjee wants that cyber crime should be prevented and to do that more and more people should have the knowledge and training.
This can be achieved if it is included in the syllabus of the higher secondary level so that the students who are interested in the subject can pursue it at the under graduate and later at the post graduate level.
The date of the meeting between the senior officials of the two departments is yet to be finalised.
