State govt reintroduces Bengal Science Lecture Series
Kolkata: The state Science and Technology and Biotechnology department reintroduced the Bengal Science Lecture Series on Friday and minister in charge of the department Bratya Basu inaugurated the lecture at the auditorium of Bidyut Unnayan Bhavan in Salt Lake.
On Friday, approximately 200 students from Jadavpur Vidyapith and Jadavpur N K Pal Adarsha Shikshayatan were present at the programme.
After inaugurating the lecture, Basu said: "People should look at things from the angle of science and technology. Students must follow scientific logic to understand something rather than just believing what they hear."
The lecture series had commenced in the year 2013 and continued till 2016. In 2017 and 2018, the session could not be organised due to some technical issues.
This year, the department has reintroduced the lecture with the subject 'Banglaye Vigyan Chetonar Bikash O Akshoy Kumar Dutta'.
Eminent speaker and lexicographer Ashish Lahiri spoke about the contribution of scientific luminary Akshoy Kumar Dutta in the mid 19th century at the event.
Sources informed that from January, such lectures will be organised throughout the year on several topics of science and technology. "These lectures will help the students nourish their talents," added Basu.
